NPA Certified Purity

Founded in 1936, the Natural Products Association (NPA) is the nation’s largest and oldest non-profit organization dedicated to the natural products industry, serving as the industry’s watchdog on regulatory and legislative issues.

The NPA recently developed a certification standard and graphic seal for skin care products to assure customers that approved products are truly natural and truly safe.  An overview of the standards are:

• Natural Ingredients: Product should be made up of only truly natural ingredients and be manufactured in such a way to maintain its purity.  Under the NPA standards, allowed ingredients come from or are made from a renewable resource found in nature (flora, fauna, mineral), with absolutely no petroleum compounds.
• Safety: Product should not contain any ingredient with a suspected human health risk.
• Responsibility: Product should not conduct animal testing in its development.
• Sustainability: Product should use biodegradable ingredients and the most environmentally sensitive packaging possible.
